one time
we had to write a poem
for English class
as an assignment
although i don't remember exactly what it read
or what it was about
i do remember that
at the end of the school year
my teacher walked up to me
and handed the poem back
and it wasn't until a
month later
when i noticed that
on the back
she had asked
if she could keep my poem.
